We were up at 6:30 am to get ready to go to the Synagogue and made it without incident. The congregation there is just WONDERFUL! Such a beautiful group of people. Patrick Gabriel taught a class on "The Gospel According To Moses'' and we played for a half hour while the memeers of the congregation danced and worshiped. It was very inspiring and we felt very blessed to have been a part of this sweet congregation. After oneg, we were off to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
Thursday, May 23, 2013 We left Portland around 8:30 am and headed out south on the I5. It is pouring down rain, and we are looking forward to the sun in California. We are so thankful to our sweet mechanic technicians who took their time to inspect our vehicle. We are fullly packed and we are excited about the tour. We arrived at our Hotel outside of Stockton around 8 o'clock and feel that we can leave the next morning about 9:30 am and arrive by 3 pm at our hotel in LA and we will have plenty of time to rest up, freshen up and be at Rabbi Corey's in plenty of time for dinner and an evening of fellowship. As we get into the van, we see a puddle... a LARGE puddle of coolant... under the van. YIKES! We take the van to a Pep Boys, and they tell us the water pump is toast! Oh NOOOO!!!! They can change it, and it will only take FIVE hours!!!! While they have the van lifted up, they tell us the two back tires are SEPARATED! We had just bought second hand tires for the trip, and the person who sold them to us actually put on bad tires!! So, we had to buy two more tires! Finally, we are on our way to LA, and hope to be at the hotel by midnight. The conference we are headed to eventually is called "Worship in Battle" and we were to experience this first hand. Patrick Gabriel began to count down the minutes as we approached the hotel... only 35 more minutes... 30 minutes more.... then PSSSSFFFFT>>>>> WWRRRRR..... FLAT TIRE! Almost midnight, on the I5 with huge semi trucks whizzing by. And, to our surprize, the flat tire was one that we had just bought 5 hours before! We were blessed to have Triple A and the young man came and changed our flat and we were on our way and arrived at this wonderful hotel by 1:30 am....
